Argos sign 2012 9th overall pick Cleyon Laing

TORONTO — As first announced on yesterday’s CFL Season Preview Media Teleconference Call, the Toronto Argonauts have officially signed 2012 CFL Canadian Draft pick, Cleyon Laing.

“Cleyon Laing is a talented Canadian player we targeted as a top futures prospect during last year’s draft. We believe he will give us excellent depth on our defensive line and we look forward to seeing him compete in this year’s training camp,” said Argos GM Jim Barker.

Laing was drafted 9th overall by the Double Blue during the 2012 CFL Canadian Draft.  Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Lai ng was selected as a futures prospect as he still had one more season of eligibility at Iowa State University. During his senior year with the Cyclones, he accumulated 42 tackles and three sacks in 12 games.    

The club has also announced the signing of import DL Antonio Leak out of Henderson State University.  Leak spent four years at HSU with his best season coming as a freshman when he collected 44 tackles and two sacks.
