TORONTO — The Toronto Argonauts announced today that QB Alex Brink has been released.

Brink, 27, leaves Toronto after signing with the club on April 30. He was initially made available to the Argos after he was released by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on April 8.

Brink was said to be in the running along with sophomore QBs Trevor Harris and Zach Collaros for the Argos’ backup pivot job

Brink signed with Winnipeg in 2010 and saw action in 26 games over the past three seasons, starting seven, and completed 226 of 398 passes for 2,573 yards with 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

The Argonauts also announced they have signed import QB Mitchell Gale.

Gale, a 23 year-old quarterback out of Abilene Christian, threw for nearly 3,000 yards in his senior season. He completed 60% of his passes and added more than 20 touchdowns in just 11 games.

Over his four years with the Wildcats, Gale accumulated over 12,000 passing yards and 97 touchdowns in 45 games. Most recently, he attended mini-camp with the NFL’s St. Louis Rams.
