WINNIPEGArguably the top free agent heading into Tuesday is now off the market as former BC Lions receiver Nick Moore has signed a contract with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Moore, 27, arrives in Winnipeg after spending the last three years with the BC Lions.

“Nick proved his worth as one of the best receivers in our league last season,” said General Manager Kyle Walters. “He will be a great addition to our offence, and we are very excited to bring him on board.”

“This is a big move for our offence, as not only a veteran presence, but an immediate playmaker who can help groom some of our rookie receivers. Nick was someone our offensive staff really wanted, and I’m thrilled we were able to bring him in,” said Head Coach Mike O’Shea.

The Westerville, OH native was ranked no. 1 on CFL.ca’s Top 20 Free Agents list heading into Tuesday.

The 2013 campaign was a breakout one for Moore. After registering 399 yards and three touchdowns in just eight games one year prior, Moore exploded through the air, hauling in 73 passes for 1,105 yards and six touchdowns.  He finished third overall in league receiving in 2013.

His best game arrived during a Week 11 contest in Hamilton, where he registered a career best 159 yards and a touchdown on a career-high 12 receptions.

The Toledo alum had four 100-yard receiving games in 2013.
