EDMONTON — Carrying four quarterbacks on a roster is an unusual move for a CFL team but the Edmonton Eskimos would do just that at the start of this season looking to find the group that coul;d backup Mike Reilly.
After two weeks the Esks would see what they wanted from their backup quarterbacks and would make the decision to release international Jonathan Crompton.
Crompton first signed with Edmonton before the 2013 season and proved to be a reliable backup to Mike Reilly last year. In limited action last year Crompton would go 30-of-58 and 451 yards including 5 touchdowns.
The decision to release Crompton now leaves Matt Nichols and PAt White as the two backups to Reilly as the Eskimos would show confidence in this pairing and their ability to fill in if need be as the Eskimos look to continue a strong start to the season.
