REGINA — The Saskatchewan Roughriders have announced today they have released international running back, Hugh Charles.

Charles joined the Riders before Week 3 and was the feature back in their game against the BC Lions. With 13 rushes for 86 yards Charles was the leading rusher for the Riders in the game.

The Tulsa, OK will now seek a spot on his third team this year after being released by the Edmonton Eskimos in training camp.

The move comes amid rumours that the Riders are close to signing former Winnipeg Blue Bombers running back Will Ford that would add to a stable of running backs that includes 2011 Most Outstanding Canadian Jerome Messam and the CFL’s leading rusher Anthony Allen.

The Roughriders would also announced the release of international linebacker Adrian Moten and international defenwsive lineman Richard Sumlin.

Sumlin signed with the Riders in 2013 while Moten signed during the offseason of 2014. Neither would play a game for the Riders this year.
