REGINA — The Montreal Alouettes released their depth chart ahead of Saturday’s matchup with the Roughriders, confirming the fact that QB Troy Smith has been placed on the 6-game injured list.

Smith is currently listed on the 6-game injured list on the team’s roster.

Reports surfaced earlier this week that Smith would be replaced under centre by former Bombers quarterback Alex Brink. Replacing Smith on the team’s roster will be Jonathan Crompton, who will serve as Brink’s backup.

Tanner Marsh will slot in as the third-string quarterback.

Smith, 30, hasn’t lived up to expectations through six games this season, completing just 49.7 per cent of his passes for 1,873 yards, 13 touchdowns, nine interceptions and a QB rating of 72.6.

Last season saw Smith take over Montreal’s QB situation in Week 17, and played well enough down the stretch to earn the starting job heading into this year’s training camp.

Brink, meanwhile, will make his first start since Week 19 of the 2012 season. Now in his fourth CFL season, the former Bombers QB thrown for 2,604 yards, 13 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

The Washington State product has thrown 23 passes this season, completing nine of them for 60 yards and one interception.
