HAMILTON — The Ticats significantly bolstered their defensive line on Wednesday, agreeing to a contract with former CFL All-Star defensive end Justin Hickman.

Hickman, a 6-2, 265-pound international, previously spent three years (2009-11) with the Tiger-Cats, registering 144 defensive tackles, 27 quarterback sacks, five forced fumbles and five tackles for a loss in 36 games, before joining the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts in 2012. He was named a CFL and East Division All-Star in 2011 after leading the league with 13 sacks.

In 12 games with the Colts, Hickman registered 12 defensive tackles. His presence should provide a major boost for a team second-last in the CFL in the sack department this season with 24 through 10 games.
