Looking for a Grey Cup Chili Recipe?

CHILLI

What’s your favourite Grey Cup meal? If you’re looking to make chili this Sunday we’ve got you covered!

Grey Cup Sunday is quickly approaching, bringing great football and good food! In our house, and in many of yours I’m sure; our Grey Cup tradition is watching the game with a bowl of warm chili in hand.

Is it not a natural combination? Grey Cup + chili…it just seems so right. So if you’re looking to cook some delicious chili this Sunday and carry on a tradition or start a new one, this is our family’s favourite Grey Cup chili recipe!

It’s not a spicy chili as you can see from the ingredients and it’s bit of a different take on the classic recipe. If you’ve got a recipe you love be sure to post it in the comments below.

1 ½ lbs ground beef

2 green peppers chopped

2 medium onions chopped

2 apples chopped (optional adds sweetness)

2 tbsp chili powder

1 ¼ tsp curry powder

1 ¼ tsp nutmeg

¼ tsp ginger

4 tbsp white vinegar

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

2 cans of tomato soup

2 cans of tomatoes

2 cans of kidney beans rinsed/drained

2 tsp sugar

Salt and pepper to taste

1) Brown the ground beef

2) Add all ingredients into a large pot and stir to blend.

3) Let simmer for 2 hours minimum. We let ours simmer all day- the longer it simmers the better it will taste.

4) Top with grated cheese, sour cream, chives whatever suits you best! We do it all.

Enjoy your Grey Cup feast and be sure to post your favourite recipe below!
