TORONTO — Google revealed its list of top 10 Canadian trending sports teams in 2014, and the CFL was well-represented.

Six teams on the list of 10 are in the CFL, with the Ottawa REDBLACKS leading the way at fifth on the list overall. The Calgary Stampeders, Edmonton Eskimos, BC Lions, Montreal Alouettes and Hamilton Tiger-Cats rounded out spots six to 10, on a list highlighting the largest year-to-year increase of interest.

The Toronto Raptors, Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto FC kicked off the top four, while the Saskatchewan Roughriders were 14th on the list — notably ahead of five other Canadian NHL teams including the Vancouver Canucks and Toronto Maple Leafs.

It’s a glowing indication of the league’s rapid growth, considering that last year only two teams — the Riders and the Ticats — made the top 10. In 2012, not a single CFL team was in the top 10.
