WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced today the club has released International linebacker Ian Wild prior to the start of free agency, so he can further pursue his pending NFL opportunity. Wild was to be a free agent next month.

“Ian Wild is a great football player in every facet of what you look for, and we are not at all surprised he has garnered interest from the National Football League”, said Blue Bombers General Manager Kyle Walters. “We wish him the best and thank him for his contributions to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.”

“The Winnipeg Football Club wishes Ian all the best in his pursuit of a position in the National Football League,” said Bombers President and CEO Wade Miller. “He is a talented ball player, and a great person. As an organization, the proper thing to do is allow an individual to pursue an opportunity in this situation, once one is presented to him in detail. We are excited for Ian and wish him the best.”
