MONTREAL – Montreal Alouettes defensive lineman Michael Sam announced on his Twitter feed that he will be stepping away from football for personal reasons.
The last 12 months have been very difficult for me, to the point where I became concerned with my mental health. Because of this I am 1/3

Sam made his CFL debut in Montreal’s Week 7 loss to the Ottawa REDBLACKS. The team placed him on the 1-Game Injured List for Week 8 and he did not play against the Eskimos.
