EDMONTON — The Edmonton Eskimos have added some size and depth to their offensive line, agreeing to a deal with free agent Joel Figueroa.

The 6-foot-6, 320-pound product of Miami spent the last three seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, where he started all 26 games he played in. The 27-year-old brings versatility to the Esks’ O-line as a natural tackle with the ability to also move inside and play guard if needed.

In five seasons at the University of Miami (2006-11), Figueroa played 43 games. He was granted an extra year of NCAA eligibility after sustaining an injury in 2010. The following year, he won the Community Service Man of the Year Award.

The move happened on the same day the Eskimos traded 30-year-old offensive lineman Thaddeus Coleman to Chris Jones and the Saskatchewan Roughriders in exchange for two negotiation list players. Coleman started 21 games over the past three seasons with the Eskimos but dressed for only one in 2015.
