Quarterbacks who threw for more than 300 yards went 3-1 in Week 7 – the lone exception was Matt Nichols needing just 246 yards through the air to help Winnipeg score 34 straight lightning delayed points. Every pivot that completed over 67 percent of their throws won too.
It was certainly a high-caliber week of quarterbacking around the league. Let’s find out what it means in the QB Index.
Reilly was beaten up by the REDBLACKS, but he got back up after every single hit. He’s a true warrior and No. 13 kept his team in the game right until the end.
On the strength of two lengthy fourth quarter touchdown drives, the Stamps’ gunslinger guided Calgary to 16 straight points to win going away against Saskatchewan.
Jennings shook off two costly late-game interceptions in Calgary and went into Montreal and carved up the Als. 27 completions and an 84 percent completion rate are single-game career highs for the young signal caller.

Considering Durant sat out two games with a badly sprained ankle, he looked pretty sharp. However, two two-and-outs in the fourth quarter was all that Saskatchewan could muster and it led to the Stampeders galloping away with a ‘W’.
Hank backed up an impassioned pre-game speech, halftime and post-game interviews with an impressive performance. That looked like the Burris – throwing in rhythm and connecting for big plays – we saw who captured CFL MOP honours in 2015.
Flashing nifty running ability on a diving, five-yard touchdown run was not enough to lift Montreal to a victory. Glenn has been feeding Duron Carter the ball of late and that’s helped the veteran QB get the Als offence moving.
Clearly Nichols has brought a new attitude to the Winnipeg roster. The Bombers are flying around and making plays on every unit ever since the confident veteran was named the No. 1 at quarterback.
Hamilton’s place-holding starter had a rough game out in Winnipeg, but it wasn’t as bad as it might have looked. The interception touchdown was more a case of Masoli and Brandon Banks not seeing the defence the same way on a read route and one other of his three picks was tipped up into the air. That said, it appears Zach Collaros is ready to get back into game action.
A bye week likely provided more time for Kilgore to get comfortable as Toronto’s starter for the foreseeable future.
It’s nice to have a Grey Cup-winning QB as your backup.
With Durant’s injury troubles the last few years, it has to be comforting for Riders fans that the new regime has possibly found a capable backup.
Injured Reserve
Argos’ silver lining: at least their bye week came during the time Ray was hurt so he could miss one less game this year.
He’s already back running outside. A return should not be far off.
All signs point to Collaros making his long awaited return and starting for Hamilton inside the dome out on the Left coast.
