What is flag football?

Flag football is a safe, exciting non-contact version of football that is played using flag football belts.

Who can play flag football?

Flag football is for everyone! While participants for the 2017 CFL NFL Flag Football tournaments have been finalized, there are no limitations as to who can play flag football.

What is the CFL NFL Flag Football program about?

The CFL and NFL have partnered to launch a series of flag football tournaments across Canada, culminating to the CFL NFL Flag Football national championship in Ottawa during Grey Cup!

How do the CFL NFL Flag Football Regional Tournaments work?

At each regional, local teams will go head to head to determine the regional champion. Each of the 9 regional champion teams will earn a trip to Ottawa to participate in the CFL NFL Flag Football Championship during Grey Cup Week where the CFL NFL Flag Football champion will be crowned! The CFL NFL Flag Football champion will then be flown to Orlando, Florida to participate in the NFL Flag Football championships!

When is Flag Football season?

Flag football requires little equipment beyond a football and flag belts and hence can be played year round wherever a field can be found!

What’s the time commitment?

CFL NFL Flag Football games are 20 minutes in length, running time. Games are broken into two ten minute halves with a one minute halftime!

How old must my son/daughter be to play?

Participants in the 2017 CFL NFL Flag Football tournaments must be born between August 1st, 2004 and July 31st, 2006 to participate. In 2018, ages 10 or 11 (must be born on or after January 1, 2007).
