Lions add depth under centre, sign QB Alex Ross

The BC Lions Football Club today announced that international quarterback Alex Ross has been signed by the team.

“Alex enjoyed a very successful college career and possesses the kind of unique quarterbacking skills that make him well-suited to our game,” said GM and head coach Wally Buono. “Competition at every position on the field is critical in building a championship team and we look forward to seeing what Alex has to offer when he is up for mini-camp in April.”

One of college football’s most productive quarterbacks over the past few years, Ross was a standout at Coastal Carolina and departed the school in 2015 with all-time marks in passing yards (9,918), attempts (1,174), completions (760) and touchdowns (72). He also owns conference records in rushing TD’s by a quarterback (19) and games with at least three touchdown passes (12). He wrapped up his outstanding accomplishments on the field as the only quarterback in Big South history to earn first-team all-conference honours three times.

The Georgia native was signed by the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent and attended training camp with the club last season.
