REGINA — The Saskatchewan Roughriders have released international linebacker Greg Jones, the team announced Friday.
The 6-foot, 242-pounder signed with the Roughriders as a free agent in 2016 and suited up in 16 games that season. He collected 70 tackles, nine special teams tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles.
Before signing in Saskatchewan, the 28-year-old spent two seasons with the Toronto Argonauts. In his rookie season in 2014, he collected 41 defensive tackles, 16 specials teams tackles and one sack in the 12 games he played in.
He played in all 18 games in 2015, nabbing a team-leading 93 defensive tackles, 17 special teams tackles, two sacks, one interception and one forced fumble and was named an East Division All-Star.
