REGINA — Long-time Montreal Alouettes safety Marc-Olivier Brouillette is retiring after seven CFL seasons, the Saskatchewan Roughriders announced Saturday.

Brouillette confirmed reports on Twitter on Saturday afternoon before the Riders later made the announcement.

Also retiring is national running back Aaron Milton.

Brouillette, 31, signed with the Riders this off-season after seven seasons in Montreal. The Montreal native recorded 195 tackles over 103 career games, adding five interceptions and six forced fumbles.

Last season, Brouillette started 18 games for the Als, recording 33 defensive tackles and an interception.

The retirement could lead to a job opening for fellow national Mike Edem, who the Riders acquired this month in a trade with the BC Lions.

Milton, a 25-year-old running back out of the University of Toronto, joined the Riders this off-season following three years as an Edmonton Eskimo.

In addition to the retirements, the Riders announced the following transactions:

SIGNED:

  • International wide receiver Ahmad Fulwood
  • International defensive back Warren Gatewood
  • International defensive back Cedric Hill
  • International defensive lineman Ja’Boree Poole

ADD TERRITORIAL JUNIORS:

  • National offensive lineman Logan Ferland (Regina Thunder)
  • National running back Logan Fischer (Saskatoon Hilltops)

MOVE TO SUSPENDED LIST:

  • International offensive lineman Derek Dennis
  • International wide receiver Bakari Grant
