WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have made 11 cuts following their first pre-season game, including quarterback Austin Apodaca, linebacker George Stone and defensive back Terrence Frederick, the team announced Monday.
Apodaca, 23, was brought in for a look ahead of this year’s training camp and threw for 15 yards on 2-of-6 passing in the Bombers’ pre-season tie with Saskatchewan on Saturday.
Stone, 23, was considered to be in the running for the middle linebacker spot, a contentious training camp battle for the team going into camp. Stone played on Saturday but failed to record a tackle at new Mosaic Stadium.
Perhaps the most surprising of the roster moves is the release of Terrence Frederick. Frederick started at corner on Saturday and also made nine starts a season ago, logging 33 defensive tackles, a sack and an interception.
