TORONTO — Running back James Wilder Jr. is slated to make his first career CFL start on Friday in Toronto when the Argos take on the BC Lions.

Wilder is listed at the top of the team’s depth chart while veteran Brandon Whitaker has been placed on the 1-game injured list.

The 25-year-old Wilder earned a job out of camp after rushing for 52 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries in two pre-season games. He had nine yards on three carries, including an 11-yard rumble, in a victory Week 1 over the Ticats.

While the Argos racked up 515 yards of offence in a 32-15 win over the Ticats on Sunday, only 39 came on the ground. They’ll look to improve on that number in a stiff test Friday night against BC at BMO Field.
