Pick ‘Em Marquee Matchup: Esks stay undefeated?

Johany Jutras/CFL.ca

TORONTO — It seems like just yesterday we were watching the Ottawa REDBLACKS and Edmonton Eskimos battle it out on a snowy field at TD Place last November.

That was the last time these two teams met, the Eastern Final, when the Ottawa REDBLACKS surged passed Edmonton on their way to the Grey Cup.

Friday Night Football brings us the rematch that Edmonton has been waiting almost eight months for.

The Eskimos have yet to lose a game this season. The REDBLACKS have yet to win.

Coming off of a Week 3 bye, Mike Reilly and co. will be looking to build off of their wins in the first two weeks of the season as they host the reining Grey Cup Champions. Meanwhile, Trevor Harris and his REDBLACKS have been close but have yet to find the win column and will be hungry for one on the road.

Expect a quarterback duel on Friday night as Harris is the league’s second-leading passer, just behind Toronto’s Ricky Ray, and Reilly is the only pivot not yet to have thrown an interception early in the season.

In this week’s CFL.ca Pick ‘Em Marquee Matchup, we’ll find out if the REDBLACKS can get their first win or if the Esks will remain undefeated. Who are you taking?

Pick Trend

The fans are picking the Edmonton Eskimos to get their third win of the season this week and they have good reason to side with the home team.

Mike Reilly has found success with his receivers, Adarius Bowman, Brandon Zylstra and Duke Williams and Travon Van seemed to settle in nicely for the injured John White in the backfield.

However, don’t count out the Ottawa REDBLACKS, as they have offensive weapons – including the league’s leading receiver Greg Ellingson – and and a stingy defence at their disposal.
