TMI: You’ll never guess who is on Pruneau’s pregame playlist

You remember Antoine Pruneau’s interception last week against the Montreal Alouettes, right?

Darian Durant was looking for Tiquan Underwood but instead, Pruneau picked him off in the end zone.

And the very next play? An 80-yard touchdown strike from Trevor Harris to Greg Ellingson.

Talk about a game changer.

Before that game, I wonder if it was listening to Celine Dion that put him in the interception mood because she’s on his pregame playlist. Seriously! And that’s kind of amazing.

He used to walk to the stadium from his house talking to fans (who didn’t recognize him, by the way) and asking if they thought number six was any good. Some answers were nice and some were not-so-nice.

And I think you can guess what his favourite football memory is. (Hint: it happened last November)

Find out more about Antoine in this edition of TMI!:

Kristina Costabile: Tell me something fans might not know about you?

Antoine Pruneau: I just started to play the guitar when I arrived in the CFL two years ago. I had to find something else to do other than PlayStation so that’s basically what I do when I get back from practice.

KC: Do you play your own music or covers of songs?

AP: I usually play other people’s songs. But when the guys from the team come to my house we sing songs about them, we have a lot of fun with that.

KC: What’s on your pregame playlist?

AP: Mostly french songs.. Celine Dion. She has a couple songs that can pump you up. (Editors note: I asked if it was “My Heart Will Go On” and Antoine said no, it’s her french songs, but wouldn’t that have been amazing if it was?!)

KC: Who would you want to be stranded on a deserted island with on your team?

AP: I’d go with (Jean-Philippe) Bolduc he’s my new roommate. We get along pretty good so he’d be the guy.

KC: What are three things that you’d bring with you to that deserted island?

AP: I’d bring my guitar. I’d bring a football.. well if we’re talking survival I’d bring the essentials like water and stuff like that. I’d also need a pillow.

KC: What would you be doing if you weren’t playing football?

AP: If I wasn’t playing football, I’d like to be around football. I’d probably be coaching or maybe working with kids or something like teaching or phys ed or something that can involved my passion for football and sports.

KC: What is your favouite football memory?

AP: Winning the Grey Cup in 2016!

KC: If you could eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

AP: Portuguese chicken. That’s what I did for most of my university years.

KC: Do you have any superstitions or routines before a game?

AP: No, I just like to get my head off football. I just like to make sure I’m prepared before the game. I like to walk around. I used to live really close to the stadium and I remember there was a bridge to get there and I used to walk on that bridge and talk to people and talk about the team but they didn’t recognize me so I’d just be like, “what do you think of number six? He’s having a good year!”

KC: Did anyone ever say that they didn’t like you or mean things about you?

AP: Yes! It wasn’t that bad but people would be like, “oh, he’s struggling a bit right now.” Mostly people were kind and it was positive most of the time.

KC: What are you watching on Netflix right now?

AP: Right now I was watching Van Helsing but I’ve watched everything. There’s not one specific show I’m watching right now. It’s tough for me to fall asleep so I usually watch two hours of Netflix to fall asleep.

KC: If you could have a superpower, what one would you choose?

AP: I think flying would be a fun thing to do.
