TORONTO — In this week’s Pick ‘Em Marquee Matchup, fans are in for a treat with a battle of the CFL’s top two offences.
Bo Levi Mitchell and the Calgary Stampeders head to Toronto to face Ricky Ray and the Argonauts in the first meeting between the two this season.
Ray sits atop of the league in passing yards with 2,282 and has tossed nine touchdowns while completing 69.2 per cent of his passes. Mitchell sits third in passing yards, collecting 1,832 while completing 63.9 per cent of his passes and throwing 10 major scores.
Toronto looks to stay on top of the East Division. Calgary looks to take over in the West.
S.J. Green and Armanti Edwards have been Ray’s favourite targets on the season, collecting 586 and 428 yards respectively. But another threat, Anthony Coombs, has emerged over the past few weeks and Ray has been looking to the slotback more often than not. Calgary’s defence will have their hands full when they hit the gridiron at BMO Field.
Calgary, on the other hand, has an arsenal of receivers themselves. Kamar Jorden has been Mitchell’s favourite target so far this season, but after an injury last week, he is questionable to start on Thursday. Marquay McDaniel, Lemar Durant, DaVaris Daniels and most recently Marken Michel, will all be more than happy to catch more passes in Jorden’s absence.

The fans are siding with the Calgary Stampeders this week but don’t count out a dangerous Argonauts defence that could keep the Stampeders in check.
With a pass rush consisting of Shawn Lemon – who has contributed to the Argos’ league-leading sack total (19) – the Stamps offensive line will have a tough task in protecting Mitchell.
