Nik Lewis Passes Ben Cahoon, Now Second All-Time in Receptions

TORONTO — Montreal Alouettes receiver Nik Lewis hauled in his 1,017th and 1,018th career receptions against the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday, tying and then passing Ben Cahoon for second on the CFL’s all-time receptions list in the process.

Catch no. 1,017 — a nine-yard pass over the middle from Darian Durant — brought Lewis level with Cahoon, who starred for the Alouettes over a 13-year career (1998-2010).

Catch no. 1,018, a nifty one-handed grab at the end of the half, then vaulted Lewis into second on the all-time list.

Now in the 14th season of a career split between Calgary (2004-14) and Montreal (2015-pres.), Lewis has had two of the rare 100-reception seasons: In 2012, as a member of the Stamps, and 2016 with the Alouettes.

If he remains healthy, the Mineral Wells, Tx. native will likely pass BC Lions great Geroy Simon’s all-time record of 1,029 career receptions later this season.
