CFL Insights: Andrew Harris ‘keeping it 100’

Jason Halstead/CFL.ca

WINNIPEG — In his eighth CFL season, Andrew Harris is still finding new ways to make a mark.

The Winnipeg native already has a last-play, game-winning touchdown to his name while he currently leads the league with 954 yards from scrimmage.

In Week 9, while helping the Bombers unseat the undefeated Edmonton Eskimos, Harris added another accomplishment to his distinguished career. With 105 rushing yards and 120 receiving yards, Harris became the first player since 2010 to go over 100 yards rushing and receiving in the same game:

The last player to accomplish the feat was Avon Cobourne in 2010. Cobourne accomplished the milestone twice in his career, first in 2008 with the Alouettes and then again with the same club two years later.

Kenton Keith (2006), Saladin McCullough (2003), Charles Roberts (2002), Robert Drummond (1996), Eric Blount (1995) and Cory Philpot (1995) are other running backs to hit the mark dating back to 1995.

One of the league’s most prolific offensive players of today’s generation, Harris may not stop there. While the 100/100 club is nice, Harris has an opportunity to do something no other player has ever done: 1,000 receiving yards and 1,000 rushing yards in the same season.

At his current pace, Harris would finish the year with 1,114 rushing yards and 1,033 receiving yards.

Stay tuned to see if Harris makes the mark and stay tuned to CFL.ca for more weekly insights presented by PWC.
