Blue Bombers trending up Nissan Titan Power Rankings

The Canadian Press

TORONTO — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are on the rise and are just one spot behind the Calgary Stampeders for the top spot in the Power Rankings.

A five-game winning streak has the Bombers just a single point behind the Stamps for first in the West as well.

The Toronto Argonauts, Saskatchewan Roughriders and Ottawa REDBLACKS have all also moved up after their Week 10 performances.

Another week, another Stampeders victory. Calgary’s defence did not allow a single point in its team’s win in Week 10 while helping to push the Stamps into sole possession of first in the West Division. This week, they host the Edmonton Eskimos – a team chasing them for that top spot.

Five in a row. That’s how many games the Bombers have won as the squad sits in the jam of teams near the top of the West Division. Winnipeg sits just one point behind Calgary for first and is tied in points with Edmonton. That makes the game against Saskatchewan that much more important this week as Winnipeg hopes to keep its hold on the top of the division.

The question that is on everyone’s minds after Week 10 is this: Have the injuries caught up to the Edmonton Eskimos? After an impressive start to the season, the Esks have dropped its last two. Is it time to panic in Edmonton with the injured list growing longer by the day or can they find the spark from their 7-0 start against the Stampeders this week?

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are trending up after a dominant performance against the Eskimos last week. It seems the Chris Jones era of Riders have finally found their way and are now a contender in the West Division. The rest of the season is critical for the Riders as they look to make up ground in the division.

Despite a less-than ideal outing in Week 10, the Toronto Argonauts are still sitting on top of the East Divison. Ricky Ray has looked strong in almost every performance he’s had this season and Toronto’s defence is one of the toughest in the league. The Argos look to keep its hold on the top of the division with a win over Hamilton this week.

Since Jonathon Jennings’ return from injury, the BC Lions have lost three-straight contests. Does Wally Buono go back to Travis Lulay – the quarterback who helped the Lions to victories earlier in the season? The team will have a week to figure it out as the Lions head into Week 11 on a bye.

This Week: 7 | Last Week: 8

Have the tides turned in Ottawa? The REDBLACKS won their third game of the season in Week 10 as things look to be turning around in the nation’s capital. Finishing strong will be No. 1 on the REDBLACKS list of things to work on this week, however, as they allowed a late three-touchdown surge from the Lions last week.

The Montreal Alouettes are just two points out of first in the East and have a chance to move up the standings with a contest against its division rival Ottawa REDBLACKS this week. A win this week in the first game of Mark’s Labour Day Weekend puts them ahead of Ottawa and into second place.

This Week: 9 | Last Week: 9

Coming off of a Week 10 bye, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats will look to defeat its rival, the Toronto Argonauts, in the finale of Labour Day Weekend. Will the change behind the bench – Kent Austin stepped down as HC and appointed June Jones as his replacement – be enough to spark the Tabbies to get their first win of 2017?
