Alouettes release QB Jacory Harris

MONTREAL — The Montreal Alouettes have released backup quarterback Jacory Harris, the team announced Thursday.

Harris was brought in during free agency as a potential backup to Darian Durant. The 26-year-old arrives in Montreal after spending time with both the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Edmonton Eskimos.

The Als also announced they have signed international linebacker Robbie Meade, out of Kean University, to a practice roster agreement.

Harris, a Miami native, has not thrown a pass for the Alouettes in 2017.

He played college football for the University of Miami from 2009 to 2011, experiencing memorable moments for the Hurricanes while collecting 8,826 passing yards as well as 70 touchdown passes, both marks good for second in team history. During his four-year career in the NCAA, Harris also gained 626 rushing yards, while registering five majors.

Harris was named the Hurricanes Most Outstanding Offensive Player during his senior year with the University of Miami, setting team record for completion rate in a single season (65%), completing 195 of 300 pass attempts. He racked up a total of 2,486 passing yards and 20 touchdown passes the same year.
