REGINA — The Saskatchewan Roughriders have added another familiar face to their defence, signing defensive back/linebacker Otha Foster.

Head Coach and General Manager Chris Jones announced the move on Tuesday.

Foster returns from a stint from the NFL following three CFL seasons with Edmonton and Saskatchewan.

The Riders also announced the signing of returner Marcus Thigpen.

Last season, Foster recorded a career-high 71 tackles in 18 games, along with three sacks, an interception and a forced fumble. The 29-year-old has played three CFL seasons — two in Edmonton and one in Saskatchewan — all under Jones.

A 6-foot, 210-pound defender out of West Alabama, Foster entered the league in 2014 with Edmonton before joining the Riders in 2016 in free agency.

Foster signed an NFL deal with the Baltimore Ravens on Jan. 31, 2017. He was waived on Sept. 1.

Thigpen, a 5-foot-9, 195-pound returner, is a veteran of 36 CFL regular-season games and 50 NFL regular-season games between 2010-15.

The dynamic returner made his CFL debut by taking the game’s opening kickoff 93-yards for a touchdown. He later added a 118-yard missed field goal return for his second touchdown.

The Riders also announced they’ve released defensive lineman Royce LaFrance and national kicker Brett Lauther.
