Ticats clawing up Nissan Titan Power Rankings

The Canadian Press

TORONTO — A two-game winning streak has the Hamilton Tiger-Cats out of the basement and moving up the Power Rankings.

Thanks to an impressive performance from the Ticats ground game – running back C.J. Gable collected two touchdowns and over 100 all-purpose yards and quarterback Jeremiah Masoli also rushed for 74 yards – Hamilton has moved up one spot in the Rankings.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Edmonton Eskimos and BC Lions have all also moved up in the rankings after their Week 12 performances. But where did the rest land?

With its seventh victory in a row, the Calgary Stampeders remain at the top of the West Division and on top of the Power Rankings. The team now heads home to host the BC Lions, looking to continue their dominance and separate themselves from the Bombers.

Winnipeg heads into its Week 13 bye winners of the Banjo Bowl against the Roughriders. When the Bombers return in Week 14, they’ll host the Ottawa REDBLACKS as they continue to chase the Stampeders for first place in the West and in the Power Rankings.

Derel Walker returned to the Esks lineup last week, adding another weapon to an already dangerous receiving corps. After a close loss to the best team in the league, Calgary, Walker and the Esks now head to Toronto to take on the Argonauts on Saturday.

Kevin Glenn left last week’s contest against the Bombers early with an apparent hand injury but will he be ready to roll this week in Hamilton? All eyes will be on the QB situation for the Riders as they head east for a tussle with the red-hot Tiger-Cats.

This Week: 5 | Last Week: 6

Travis Lulay’s season appears to be finished after suffering a knee injury last week which means the Lions’ offence is back in the hands of Jonathon Jennings. Jennings rallied his team to a win over the Alouettes when Lulay left during the first drive but can he take that momentum this week against the Stampeders?

This Week: 6 | Last Week: 5

In a week full of injuries to quarterbacks, the REDBLACKS, too, suffered one to their starting quarterback. Trevor Harris will miss “weeks” according to head coach Rick Campbell which means Drew Tate will be the leader of Ottawa’s offence for the time being.

This Week: 7 | Last Week: 7

Coming off of a Week 12 bye, the Toronto Argonauts will be looking to stay atop of the East Division with a win over Edmonton at home this week. It’ll be up to Toronto’s defence to keep the Esks dangerous aerial attack grounded if they want to stay near the top of the division.

This Week: 8 | Last Week: 9

What a difference a few weeks can make. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are riding a two-game winning streak after a change at quarterback and behind the bench has proven to be the right move. The question now is if the team can keep things rolling as they welcome the Roughriders to Tim Hortons Field this week.

This Week: 9 | Last Week: 8

After a loss to the BC Lions last week, the Alouettes will be looking to get back in the win column this week. Montreal will host the REDBLACKS at home and will be hoping to stay in the conversation in a wide-open East Division.
