Week 12 was unusually brutal to quarterbacks. Injuries cost BC’s Travis Lulay (knee) the rest of the season, while Saskatchewan’s Kevin Glenn (hand) and Ottawa’s Trevor Harris (shoulder) both sustained injuries that leave their availability for Week 13 in question.
The upheaval at the position allowed Edmonton’s Mike Reilly ($14,000) to regain his standing as the top pivot in this week’s rankings. Reilly didn’t earn the standing by default, as he threw for 461 yards and a major in last week’s loss to Calgary. The return of Derel Walker ($8,046) along with the production of Brandon Zylstra ($6,168) gives Reilly two of the top four receivers in this week’s rankings, and gives the Eskimos a chance to snap their four-game losing streak against Toronto in what could be an entertaining contest against Reilly and Argos gunslinger Ricky Ray ($10,946).
Brandon Bridge ($6,000) and Drew Tate ($6,000), are the likely fill-ins for Glenn and Harris, respectively. The latter two are in the QB rankings, as both enter the week with an outside chance to remain in the starting lineup.
Running back has fewer questions, as Calgary’s Jerome Messam ($8,303) and BC’s Jeremiah Johnson ($8,058) sit atop the rankings. Hamilton’s C.J. Gable ($5,789) climbs up the Top 10, while the struggles of Edmonton’s LaDarius Perkins ($5,546) and Toronto’s Brandon Whitaker ($5,222) send them down the list. Saskatchewan’s Kienan LaFrance and his $3,500 salary should make him a low-risk play that could pay off, especially if the Roughriders put the emphasis on the run if Glenn cannot start.
While Harris’ injury factored, Greg Ellingson ($6,663) falls to second in the receiver rankings, mostly because of the blistering hot play of Saskatchewan’s Duron Carter ($7,574), who will come into the contest against Hamilton in search of a seventh straight game with a major. The status of Calgary’s DaVaris Daniels ($6,146), who was injured at Edmonton last Saturday night, is uncertain coming into the week, yet he stays in the Top 10 until it’s announced that he won’t suit up against BC.
