Blue Bombers release WR TJ Thorpe

WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers released international receiver TJ Thorpe from the club’s practice roster Wednesday morning.

Thorpe dressed in six games with the Bombers this season, recording 33 receptions for 302 yards and no touchdowns.

Prior to joining the Bombers, Thorpe spent time with the Washington Redskins before being released prior to the start of last season. He split his collegiate career between North Carolina and Virginia, playing his final year at Virginia, and hauling in 23 receptions for 321 yards and a touchdown. He also recorded 42 receptions for 574 yards and five touchdowns for North Carolina, while breaking the school record for kick return yards (960) in a season. Thorpe earned All-ACC honors with the Tar Heels.
