Lions LB Awe issued max fine for hit on Messam, Finch

TORONTO — Following a disciplinary hearing, BC Lions linebacker Micah Awe has received a maximum fine for leading with the crown of his helmet on high hits to Calgary Stampeders running backs Jerome Messam and Roy Finch.

The League also announced fines to Hamilton Tiger-Cats DB Demond Washington and Lions RB Chris Rainey and DL David Menard.

Rainey was fined for grabbing Calgary Stampeders linebacker Wynton McManis’ facemask in a reckless and unsafe manner, while Menard was fined for a tourist hit on Calgary Stampeders defensive lineman Reuben Frank.

Washington was fined for spitting on an opponent.

As per league policy, the amount of the player fines was not disclosed.
