Roster Roundup: CFL teams shuffle personnel

Johany Jutras CFL.ca

TORONTO — A number of minor transactions were made Wednesday as CFL clubs fine-tune their rosters for the final third of the season.  Although none of the names jump off the page, some of the moves speak to the depth needed on certain squads.

CFL.ca amalgamates them all for you:

TORONTO ARGONAUTS

The Argos added six players to their roster, including two quarterbacks – Matt Davis and Skyler Howard.  Any quarterback acquisition in Toronto is interesting as the club made it clear that they are always keeping in mind the Ricky Ray succession plan down the road.

The team also added WR Jonathan Epps, DL Jeff Luc, RB Romar Morris, DL Sadat Sulleyman

SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS

The Riders’ practice field will have some new faces this week, as the team has announced the additions of Elie Bouka, Jacoby Ford and Montori Hughes.

Marc-Olivier Brouillette, the team also announced, has reported to the team after retiring during training camp.

They also added WR Jacoby Ford, DL Montouri Hughes.

WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS

The Bombers didn’t add any players but they did release international receiver TJ Thorpe. Thorpe dressed in six games with the Bombers this season, recording 33 receptions for 302 yards and no touchdowns.

OTTAWA REDBLACKS

The REDBLACKS quietly added former Argos and Riders linebacker Greg Jones and international DB Dacquan Pace.  In three CFL seasons, Jones recorded 204 defensive tackles, 42 special teams tackles and five QB sacks in 46 games.

MONTREAL ALOUETTES

The Als added to their practice roster with the signing of linebacker Reggie Northrup, defensive tackle Justin Zimmer, defensive back Tyler Williams as well as offensive lineman Anthony Morris to the practice roster.

HAMILTON TIGER-CATS

No additions on the ‘Cats but they announced the release of national defensive back Tristan Doughlin and national linebacker Frank Renaud.
