TORONTO — The Toronto Argonauts announced Tuesday that the team has added international linebackers Khalil Bass and Tau Lotulelei as well as international quarterback Keith Wenning, to the practice roster.

Bass, a 5-11, 230-pound native of Encino, California, has played in 46 career CFL games with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Ottawa Redblacks. The Bombers’ 2015 selection for Most Outstanding Rookie had 100 total tackles, five sacks, one interception and a forced fumble in his first year in the league. After signing as a free agent with the Redblacks this past off-season, the Portland State product played in 11 games, posting 40 tackles and two sacks prior to his release on September 15. In 21 games in two seasons at Portland State, Bass totaled 122 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, two sacks, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and two pass breakups with the Vikings.

Lotulelei, a 6-1, 235-pound native of Kihei, Hawaii, played in 45 career games in four seasons (2013-16) at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas after earning a spot as a walk-on prior to redshirting the 2012 season. He led the Rebels in total tackles as both a senior (117) and sophomore (100) and earned Honourable Mention All-Midwestern Conference honours as a junior despite missing significant time due to injury. Lotulelei recorded a total of 317 tackles at UNLV, adding 9.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles; his 42.5 tackles for a loss rank fourth in Midwestern Conference history.

Wenning, a 6-3, 220-pound native of Coldwater, Ohio, was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round (194th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft and has since spent time with the Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, New York Giants, and Buffalo Bills. The former Ball State University standout holds school records in pass completions (1,035), pass attempts (1,642), passing yards (11,402) and touchdown passes (92). The two-time All-MAC second-team selection ranks third in conference history in pass completions and seventh in passing yards.

The Argos also announced Tuesday that the team has released the following players from the practice roster:

  • Matt Davis (QB, SMU)
  • Skyler Howard (QB, West Virginia)
