O’Shea: Adams out ‘a number of weeks’

WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers could be without Darvin Adams for the rest of the season, the team revealed on Tuesday, although Head Coach Mike O’Shea is not ruling out a post-season return.

The news was announced by O’Shea on Tuesday, and tweeted by the team’s director of digital content, Ed Tait:

Adams suffered the injury before the team’s Week 17 matchup with the BC Lions, forcing the Bombers to adjust leading up to the game. The 27-year-old was enjoying a career year in Blue and Gold, racking up 1,120 receiving yards and seven touchdowns along with a 14.7 average — all career-highs.

O’Shea also told Tait that Maurice Leggett has undergone surgery on his Achilles, while receiver Weston Dressler is expected to be back in the lineup this week.

The Bombers can clinch their first home playoff game since 2011 with a win on Saturday over the Argos at BMO Field.
