CALGARY — Calgary Stampeders rookie Marken Michel has left Friday night’s contest against the Saskatchewan Roughriders with an apparent hamstring injury.

The injury happened on the game’s first possession, when Michel was targeted on a second-and-five play on a go route down the sideline. The rookie receiver came up limp immediately after the route, going to the sideline in visible pain.

This season has been a remarkable one for the first-year pass-catcher, who’s broken out with 780 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Originally a backup after breaking camp with the team, Michel was pressed into action following an early-season injury to DaVaris Daniels.

While the Stamps’ receiving corps has gotten healthier, with Daniels and Kamar Jorden back in the lineup, Michel has been too good to take out.

So far, there’s been no indication of the severity of Michel’s injury.
