Matt Nichols exits game against Lions with lower-body injury

The Canadian Press

WINNIPEG — Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Matt Nichols left Saturday’s game against the BC Lions in the first half with a lower-body injury.

The veteran quarterback appeared to suffer the injury to his left leg on a non-contact play while throwing a pass. Head coach Mike O’Shea told TSN that Nichols would not return after the half.

Dominique Davis took over for Nichols under centre after the injury, and Dan Lefevour also saw action in the fourth quarter. The Bombers were already without Maurice Leggett and Darvin Adams as they tried to secure a home playoff date for the first time since 2011.
