Riders’ LaBatte, Richardson & Marshall ruled out for Eastern Final

OTTAWA — A lot has been made about the rotation the Saskatchewan Roughriders have employed this season, especially down the stretch.  Final rosters will not be set until Saturday morning but head coach Chris Jones did confirm that both national offensive lineman Brendon LaBatte and international running backs Trent Richardson and Cameron Marshall will be unavailable when his club visits Toronto to take on the Argonauts in the Eastern Final.

LaBatte went down in the Roughriders’ season finale loss to the Edmonton Eskimos and missed last week’s Eastern Semi-Final as a result.  Things looked hopeful for the veteran offensive guard who returned to the practice field this week in Ottawa but will once again be down this week.  His injury forced former all-star tackle Derek Dennis to move inside to the left guard spot last week against the REDBLACKS.

As for Richardson and Marshall, they too has been out since the late stages of the regular season and even if healthy could have found it difficult getting back on the roster following the stellar performance by RB Marcus Thigpen last week.  Thigpen ran wild last week to the tune of 169 yards on 15 carries, including a 75-yard touchdown which all but put the REDBLACKS away.
