OTTAWA — The Ottawa REDBLACKS have extended running back Mossis Madu through the 2018 season, the club announced Thursday. Madu was set to become a free agent in February.

Madu ran the ball 71 times for 317 yards and two touchdowns in seven games last year while also adding 188 yards and two majors on 23 receptions.

The 6-foot, 197-pound back is coming off his second year with the REDBLACKS and third in the CFL. In his first year with the REDBLACKS, the 30-year-old suited up in six games and tallied 92 carries for 490 yards and three major scores. Madu spend the 2014 season with the Hamilon Tiger-Cats where he played in 15 games and collected 75 carries for 348 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. He also caught 44 passes for 512 yards in his rookie season.

The signing of Madu continues what has been a busy week for the REDBLACKS when it comes to locking up running backs, having previously announcing the re-signing of William Powell and Canadian Ed Ilnicki.
