Episode 92: Hank Dishes on CFL Hot Topics

There are a lot of hot-button issues in the CFL right now and former QB Henry Burris joins James and Davis to talk about the likes of Manziel, Wilder and even ranks his top CFL QBs.

At first, Burris doesn’t list a ninth pivot, but when pressed, the future hall of famer gives Kevin Glenn the nod over Zach Collaros.

“Who’s in the nine-hole?” asked Burris. “I’m going to go with Kevin Glenn over Zach. Kevin Glenn did more. 0-12, are you guys serious?”

The entire list can be debated ad nauseam, but the biggest point of contention, especially for Riders fans, is probably Collaros. Last week, Cybulski and Sanchez both agreed that the Riders’ new quarterback could be a top-three pivot this year. Burris wouldn’t entertain it.

Remember, Collaros’ arrival coincided with Burris’ exit from Hamilton. But that doesn’t seem like the reason. The former Ticats and REDBLACKS quarterback explained himself.

“You and I both know that football is a ‘what have you done for me lately’ type of game,” said Burris. “I know people continue to reflect back to 2014 and a portion of 2015, when Zach balled, and he had a great team to play with, and he did some great things and Hamilton was on fire.

“My thing is, mentally, is Zach Collaros the same player he once was?” he continued. “If you can’t get back to that level you once were before injury, then you let that injury get the best of you. The thing is, the best find a way to overcome any obstacle placed against them, and right now, I’m not seeing that for Zach Collaros.

“He’s lost 12 straight, guys. A team that has great personnel, a great system to play in. And even when Jeremiah went in to play in that system, Jeremiah had success. Right now, until Zach Collaros can get back to throwing for 6,000 yards in a season, I’m always going to put Jeremiah Masoli over him because Jeremiah was facing the same circumstances and he had success in the same circumstances, with the same restraints against him that Collaros did.”
