REGINA — The Saskatchewan Roughriders have released offensive lineman Derek Dennis.
Dennis played in 15 games with the Riders last season after being one of the most sought-after free agents in 2017. When he hit the market last season, Dennis was coming off an all-star season with the Calgary Stampeders that saw him earn Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman honours.
“Any time you sign a big contract to be the anchor of a line as a tackle and get moved to guard, the writing is on the wall,” CFL.ca analyst Davis Sanchez said of the Dennis release. “The pay scale for import tackles and guards is significantly different and he got a huge deal last year as a tackle at the height of his market value.”
Wish the guys in that Locker room nothing but success in future, to one of the best fan bases in the world it was a blast being apart of you for short stint! Guess I got to be great again somewhere else! pic.twitter.com/n2o9fLjKwU
