Zack Evans goes home; signs with Riders

REGINA — The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed free agent defensive tackle and Regina native Zack Evans, the team has announced.

The deal was struck a couple of hours after free agency opened, giving the Riders a potential national starter in the middle of their defensive line.

Evans played in 18 games in 2017, his fourth season in Ottawa, and collected 23 tackles and five sacks.

Before joining the REDBLACKS in the 2013 Expansion Draft, the Regina native played two seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

With the Riders, Evans played in 16 games and tallied three defensive tackles, one special teams tackle and one sack.

In 86 career games, Evans has amassed 82 tackles, 22 sacks, one interception and one touchdown. He was also named an East Division All-Star and won the 104th Grey Cup in 2016.
