VANCOUVER — The BC Lions have signed international linebacker Solomon Elimimian to a contract extension through 2019, the team has announced.

One of the Lions’ all-time leaders at the position, Elimimian enters his ninth season in with the Lions in 2018 and comes off another historic campaign in 2017, setting a CFL record with 144 defensive stops through 18 regular season games.

“Solomon has been the centerpiece of our defence for a number of years and this is great news for the club and our fans,” said Head Coach Wally Buono. “He continues to play at a very high level and I know how deeply he cares for this team and being part of our community.”

The CFL’s Most Outstanding player in 2014 and a two-time Most Outstanding Defensive Player in 2014 and 2016, Elimimian is the Lions’ all-time leader in defensive tackles with 719 and 755 combined tackles overall.

A four-time CFL All-Star, the future Hall of Fame candidate has appeared in 114 regular season games and hit double-digits in tackles six times last season.
