Esks release veteran DB Marcell Young

EDMONTON — The Edmonton Eskimos have released international cornerback Marcell Young, the team announced Wednesday.

Young originally signed with Edmonton as a free agent in February 2013. In five seasons with the Green and Gold, he collected 199 defensive tackles, four special teams tackles and three interceptions in 74 games. The native of Jackson, Mississippi was a member of the Eskimos 2015 Grey Cup championship team.

Prior to Edmonton, he spent two seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats from 2011 to 2012. There, he recorded 63 defensive tackles, two special teams tackles and three interceptions in 23 games.
