WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have brought in two more quarterbacks, the team announced Thursday, including second-year CFL pivot Alex Ross.

They also announced the addition of defensive back Tyneil Cooper and another quarterback in Tyler Stewart.

Ross was released by the BC Lions on April 12 after one season on the West Coast. He completed five of 12 passing attempts for 82 yards and two interceptions while backing up Jonathon Jennings and Travis Lulay.

A 6-foot-1 product of Coastal Carolina University, Ross, 25, remains his school’s all-time leader in passing yards, completions and touchdowns.

Cooper, a 5-foot-9, 180-pound defensive back out of Dixie State University, earned All-RMAC first-team defence honors with 33 tackles and nine pass breakups in 2016.

Stewart started 22 games for the Nevada Wolf Pack, throwing for 3,550 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Stewart finished his college career with an 11-11 record, including a win in the 2015 Arizona Bowl.

While Matt Nichols and Darian Durant top the Bombers’ depth chart, the team released Dominique Davis this off-season and Dan LeFevour retired. Philip Nelson is also on the Bombers’ roster.
