OTTAWA — The Ottawa REDBLACKS are a little bit lighter this week following the departures of offensive linemen Tommie Draheim and Jordan Filippelli.

The team announced Tuesday that Draheim was released and Filippelli has retired.

Draheim, a 29-year-old international out of San Diego State, joined the REDBLACKS in 2016 after spending his rookie season with the BC Lions. Before coming to the CFL the Kennewick, Wash. native spent three seasons on NFL practice rosters with six different teams.

After a polished university career with the Calgary Dinos, Filippelli, a 24-year-old Sherwood Park, Alta. native, was drafted by the REDBLACKS with the final pick (71st overall) in the 2017 CFL Draft.

The REDBLACKS also announced they’ve signed international defensive back Jules Dornevil out of Florida A&M. Dornevil recorded 35 defensive tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble in 11 games for the Rattlers last season.
