MONTREAL — The Montreal Alouettes announced that they have re-signed international defensive tackle Alan-Michael Cash.

Cash was a force along the Montreal defensive line for four seasons before signing as a free agent with Toronto last season.

“We are very happy to bring Alan-Michael back to Montreal. He has always performed well on the field, in addition of being extremely appreciated by his teammates in the locker room,” said Alouettes General Manager Kavis Reed in a statement.

During his first tenure in Montreal, Cash played in 82 games notching 138 defensive tackles, 17 sacks, three forced fumbles and two interceptions.  In 2014, he was named an East Division All-Star.

Cash struggled to stay healthy with Toronto last season, seeing action in only one game.  Cash was released earlier in the month along with seven others on the Argos roster.

The 6-2, 292-pound, native of Richmond, Virginia, spent his collegiate career at NC State where he registered 149 tackles (70 solo, 79 assisted), 19.5 tackles for a loss, nine sacks, one interception and two forced fumbles in 54 games over four seasons with the Wolfpack.

The Alouettes also announced that the team has released national defensive backs Michael Carter and Daryl Townsend, as well as international linebacker Clemente Casseus and international defensive back Terrence Bailey.
