CALGARY — The Calgary Stampeders have narrowed down their hunt for a starting running back, announcing Friday they’ve released international Dominique Williams.

Williams, who was a last-minute invite to camp, appeared in one game for the Stampeders in 2017, carrying the ball three times for 14 yards and adding one reception for eight yards and four kickoff returns for 71 yards.

The Stampeders’ running back battle is one of the more highly-anticipated across training camps, as the team looks to fill the role of departed star Jerome Messam.

Sophomore Terry Williams is considered the front runner in the competition but the Stamps have three other internationals on the roster, as Rushel Shell III, Romar Morris and Don Jackson are also in the running.
