TORONTO — The Toronto Argonauts have acquired former all-star defensive back Abdul Kanneh in a trade with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.  In exchange, the Argos send Hamilton their eighth-round draft pick in the 2019 CFL Draft.

In 50 career CFL games, Kanneh has racked up 155 defensive tackles, five sacks, 12 interceptions and six forced fumbles.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Kanneh was a premier free agent tabbed by the Ticats in 2017 when they inked one of the most impactful players in the Grey Cup months before. However, a frustrating tenure in Hamilton caused by injury limited the physical defender to just seven games.

Kanneh, a product of New Mexico Highlands, brings four years of CFL experience to an already veteran-laden secondary. Kanneh spent his first three seasons in the CFL with the Ottawa REDBLACKS where he was named an East Division All-Star and CFL All-Star in 2015 while leading the league in interceptions (6), fumble recoveries (3) and forced fumbles (4). Kanneh was again honoured in 2016 with an East Division All-Star nod.

Kanneh captured a Grey Cup championship with the REDBLACKS in 2016 while recording three defensive tackles, one tackle for loss and a sack in the victory.
