Cram Session 1.0: Fan’s guide to prepping for the season

The week we’ve all been waiting for is finally here: CFL kickoff!

Before you sit down to enjoy all of the games this weekend, I’m here to help you get prepared with the first of two cram sessions.

Tune into TSN on Tuesday night for a full night of incredible CFL specials starting at 7:30 p.m. ET. By the time the contest between the Edmonton Eskimos and Winnipeg Blue Bombers rolls around at 8:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, you’ll be more than ready to watch.

Tuesday’s schedule on TSN is as follows:

7:30 p.m. ET: Journey to the Grey Cup: 2017 Toronto Argonauts
8:00 p.m. ET: TSN’s Top 50 Players
8:30 p.m. ET: CFL Fantasy Preview Show
9:00 p.m. ET: CFL Season Preview Show

Just like players watching film to get ready for a contest, Tuesday night is your film session to get game ready and here’s how to make the most of it:

1. RELIVE THE GREY CUP

Cassius Vaughn’s fumble return touchdown was one of the moments that turned the tide for the Argos in the Grey Cup (Patrick Doyle/CFL.ca)

You remember that really cold, November night last year in Ottawa? The one where snow covered the field as two teams were fighting for the coveted Grey Cup? The one where – thanks to a fumble return touchdown from Cassius Vaughn and a game-sealing interception from Matt Black late in the fourth quarter – the Toronto Argonauts rallied to victory? Yes, that one.

Relive every moment through the eyes of the Argonauts themselves by tuning into TSN at 7:30 p.m. ET to watch Journey to the Grey Cup: 2017 Toronto Argonauts.

2. COMPARE YOUR TOP 50

You read how hard it was for CFL.ca’s Chris O’Leary and Davis Sanchez to pick their top 50 players and maybe that sparked something inside of you that said, ‘how hard could it really be?’

Write down your top 50 players and then tune into TSN’s Top 50 Players at 8:00 p.m. ET to see how your list compares. Maybe you had Duron Carter, along with his spectacular one-handed grabs and ability to play on both sides of the ball, at the top of your list. Or maybe it’s Mike Reilly, the reigning MOP that led all quarterbacks in game-winning drives (six) in 2017.

Whoever you put on your list, see how similar, or different, it is to TSN’s!

3. GET FANTASY READY

Everyone’s favourite game, TSN CFL Fantasy, is back for a second season and our friends over at TSN are here to help you get prepared so you can shoot to the top of your league.

Tune into TSN at 8:30 p.m. ET for the CFL Fantasy Preview Show for all you need to know before picking your roster. Sleeper picks, bargains, and must-haves are just a few notes that TSN’s panel will have for you so you can build your ultimate roster.

Then, when the show is over, be sure to set your lineup using the advice you had just received.

4. ONE FINAL CRAM SESSION

Finally, once you’ve picked your fantasy roster, chosen your top 50 players, and relived the Grey Cup, stick around on TSN at 9:00 p.m. ET to preview the entire CFL season.

From Wally Buono’s final hurrah to new faces in new places to the Calgary Stampeders looking for redemption, storylines from across the league will be covered in the hour-long special on TSN.
