Report: Alex Green to miss at least two weeks

The Canadian Press

HAMILTON — According to TSN’s Louis Butko, Ticats starting running back Alex Green will be sidelined at least the first two weeks of the season after suffering a hand injury.

The second-year back saw a specialist on Wednesday, while Head Coach June Jones indicated Green would miss the start of the regular season and more.

The injury to Green may be linked to the Ticats’ decision to sign veteran running back John White on Tuesday night. The deal with White, who was released by the Edmonton Eskimos on the eve of training camp, was reported Tuesday and confirmed by the team the next morning.

While the extend of his role is uncertain, it’s likely White will play Saturday when the Ticats visit the Calgary Stampeders in the season-opener.

Canadian running back Mercer Timmis is also likely to figure in.
